Update on Life: Oblock is going INTERNATIONAL!

So, I dunno how many people read my blogs...or if anyone reads them at all....hahaha.... but I figured I would blog about my big update in life...

Since graduating in the summer, the topic of what I'm going to do...work wise...life wise..future wise...has been coming up a lot. I mean it makes sense... I'm done with all the schooling that I'm gonna do (no chance I'm gonna go for a masters haha) and the obvious next step in my life is to find a job and start making that cash $$ haha. And throughout my last semester in college and until recently, I had an idea of what I wanted to do in the future, but I never really thought that the time to make a decision of turning idea into reality would come so fast...if that makes any sense. Although it was just an idea, it was an idea that I found to be super exciting...but at the same time it would be a life changing decision... which kind of scared me..scares me? But after talking to my family and close friends, I've decided.... to move out to Japan.

So I've decided I'm going to be leaving for Japan in January...I haven't set an actual date yet..but January is when I'll be leaving for sure, if not sooner. If i lock up an interview within the next few months or find a job opportunity, I will  be leaving before that. For now the plan is, I'm going to stay at my grandma's house...work at the bar that she owns and runs..and look for jobs in Tokyo.

And so for the next 3 months....my last 3 months in the US, I'll be fixing up my resume and cover letter...applying for jobs...learning japanese and I'll be in party mode/having the most fun i can. haha.

OBLOCK IS GOING INTERNATIONAL! hahaha

Vegas pt. 2

After our alcohol filled first day in Las Vegas, Brandon, B-rent, Bender (the triple B crew), and I decided to go down stairs to the casino and try our luck at some BLackkkk Jackkkk. The casino wasn't too crowded so we were able to snag our own private table. We had some cool dealers come our way, like Bromay who hooked us up with maddd Black Jacks and fun conversations. But we also had some lame and mean dealers such as Carol. While our homie Brando ran into alittle bad luck and was running out of chips, he said to us " looks like this is going to be my last hand", Carol quicklyreplied " YEUP! looks like it!". Then she delt him his cards and he was done for the day. haha. Carol was one mean Dealer.
Butttttt some of us got lucky on Saturday. B-rent, Bender, and I were on a roll for a little bit. As dealers kept being swapped, we would win big with some and lose a little with others. We probably would have won a lot more if we kept playing but we had to get ready for our the festivities that we had planned for the night.
So later that night, we did a little pre-gaming in our room and all mobbed out to the new club SURRENDER in the Encore Hotel. The Encore Hotel is a SUPA SUPA nice, fancy, and swanky (picked this word up from Rachel Jang *shot out to my baby boo*). We had some problems waiting in line to get in...like the ratio of Guys to Girls. We thought we had enough girls with us to get in but i guess we needed some more so the guys put on their A game and did some scoping and recruiting. (by the way, i just have to mention how gay it is that we have to have girls with us to get into Vegas clubs. at least 1:1 ratio of guy to girl should be enough). Anyways...but we finally got in, and the club was the nicest club I've EVER been to in my life. It was super super super fancy, it had a POOL in the middle of it, it was two stories, had a pretty big dance floor, it was OUTSIDE!, and it also had a casino in it. Yeup, I said it, it had a casino in the club. A craps table, Black jack table, and a few other table games. It was pretty cool. After doing some dancing, mingling, womanizing, drinking, taking pictures, at the end of the night...Rob and Steffy stef jumped into the pool on the way out haha.
The ride home was a pain in the ass cuz there was mad traffic and we were all hung over. Buttt, this vegas trip was freakin fun. probably the best vegas trip i've been on.

Las Vegas pt. 1

This weekend was our Annual Summer Las Vegas trip for the basketball tournament. Bender, Stef, and I Woke up bright and early on Friday morning at 8 Am to begin our journey to Las Vegas. (The earliest ive been up since having to wake up for MGMT 405 class my junior year of college haha). But it was well worth the early wake up because it was the start of our amazing trip. So we hit the road and it only took around 4 1/2 hours. As for the rest of the crew, DeanO (looking Bigger and buffer then ever) and Shane (looking darker and tanner then ever) drove side by side, showing off their breakfast burritos, and caravaned with us basically the whole way there. Also our O-Block homies, B-rent and commando (brandon), flew into Vegas from SF at 7 in the morning and were already waiting for us in Las Vegas at the Venetian pool.
After arriving in Las Vegas Stef, Deano, and I decided to take a bunch of shots and meet up with the rest of the crew at a mall on the strip. Then we all decided to go find a bar to go grab a drink until it was time for dinner. At the time, getting a drink and lounging around seemed like an awsome idea, but ended up being a disastrous decision. We walked around a little bit to find a cool bar to drink at and we ended up buying a HUGE half pint alcoholic slushy drink. My slushy consisted of lemonade and vodka. After pounding the slushy drink...instead of being drunk and ready to party, we felt super tired and resulted in 3 out of the 5 of us KO'd lol. (shout out to stef's mom for letting us crash in her room). But thanks to Dean being a trooper and waking us up, we eventually made it to dinner at Batista's for an amazing Italian dinner. The place had a very old fashioned look to it and had a set menu, with a choice of entree, salad or soup, garlic bread, ALL YOU CAN DRINK WINE (red and white), and desert for around $30. However, although Dean picked a great place to eat/drink at, 4 out of the 7 of us (including deano) were either so drunk, hungover, or tired we barely ate our food and drank the wine lol. But it was a nice dinner over all, cuz its been a while since all of the guys were together hanging out all at the same time.
After dinner, a HUGE nap sesh was needed and most of us slept till prolly round 11pm. After everyone woke up, we did some more drinking out of the flashing shot classes that our homie rob brought and went down to the hotel bar where there was about 100,000,000 Asian people. We did some more drinking, mingling, womanizing, gambling, dancing and what not. It was a good first day/night in Vegas.

O-Block x T-Style x B-Ham

So O-Block, T-style, and B-ham had been talkin about possibly putting together a collab song for a while. So on one of my last days in SF, I got together with homies Takuma, David, and Soul to put together a jam. We spent a good portion of the day, writting, thinking, writting, singing, rehearsing, and finally recording. (side note:Takuma and I really don't have too much experience with rapping haha.)
Anyways, so it took prolly a day or two for soul to finish mastering the track (big ups soul!). And im pretty stoked on how the song came out. I've had the song now for the past month or so and on my itunes it says ive played it 54 times hahahaha. Thats how much I like it. I like it soooo much that I made a simple but funny music video for it. Theres a bunch of cameos so check it out! O-Block x T-Style x B-Ham!

Oyako-Don

So the past week or two, I havn't really been doin much. Just loungin in my house or my back yard, running, training, or at the pool. Yes, the lazy life...or the bum life..or whatever people call it these days. And people ask me, so since you've graduated what have you been up to? Do you have a job? Are you going to interviews? The answer to those questions is a big fat NO haha. I havn't done anything but I'm perfectly fine with it. I want to enjoy my summer to the fullest by doing NOTHING haha. I just finished school, and I think I deserve a few months of just straight doing nothing and hanging out. I mean, when was the last time that you can remember...where you had NO worries, absolutely NONE. Worry free from school, work, up coming tests, hw that takes forever, waking up early to go to class, paying rent, making food, buying groceries, etc. I know im eventually gonna have to start looking for a job, but until then, doing nothing is what im going to do.

But tonight, my dad decided to cook up some dinner. Its been a while since our whole family was together to eat dinner. My younger brother tosh (pete) came home from UCI for the weekend. (yes i said UCI, he freakin lives in the UCI dorms....when we live 5 minutes away from the campus....dumb, and a waste of money). But anyways, my dad decided to cook up a bunch of random stuff....home made macaroni salad, RIBS, and his specialty dish OYAKO-DON. I'm actually surprised on how good of a cook my dad is.Never really thought the ex-president of Sapporo, a corporate business man junky guy could cook. But he can. He called me down stairs to teach me how to cook it and through out the whole cookin process he kept bragging about how the Oyako-Don is his "Go To" dish, and that I should make it mine also. With prep and all that, it took around 45 minutes to cook! but it was worth the long ass cooking process cuz it turned out pretty damn Bizzommmbbbb..haha. So I thought id share a quick recipe of the Oyako-Don in case someones wants to try cooking it! Enjoy!

Heres the recipe:
Ingredients:
  • Rice
  • Onion
  • Soup Stock (Dashi)
  • Soy Sauce
  • Mirin
  • Sugar
  • Eggs
Directions:

Cut Chicken into Bite-Size pieces and thinly slice onion. Put Dashi soup stock in a pan and heat. Add soysauce, mirin, and sugar in the soup. Put chicken in the pan and simmer on low heat for a few minutes. Add onion slices to the pan and simmer for a few more minutes. Beat eggs in a bowl. Bring the soup to a boil, then pour the eggs over chicken and onion. Turn the heat down to low and put on a lid. After one minute, turn off the heat. To serve, first put steamed rice in a deep bowl, then place the chicken and egg on top of the rice.

Absolutely Absinthe Experience

So last night we headed out to LA to celebrate Melissa's 23rd birthday. Went to this bar called The Edison, named after the famous Thomas Edison. The bar had a bunch of gadgets and lights everywhere and had an early 1900's old fashion theme to it. It felt like we were in an old movie like Moulin Rouge or Cinderella Man. They also had live Jazz playing and so a couple of us decided to let loose and groove a little to the music. Robert's Jazz hands were in full effect. Oh yea, my good friends Brett and Erica came out to join in on the fun too. It was good seeing them. Hadn't seen them in a long time. (shout out to SF!)

The highlight of the night was the drinks. The Edison I guess is known for their special drinks. They have a huge drink menu. After carefully reading and checkin out the drink menu, Me, Stef, and Deano decided to go with the Absinthe Fairy drink. Before last night, I'd only heard stories and rumors about absinthe and had never experienced it myself. I guess you could call me an Absinthe virgin. haha. Buuuuttttt I got my cherry popped and finally had my first Absinthe drink. The drink came in a champagne glass looking thing and it was cloudy white/yellow (kinda hard to see in the dark). I figured hey it prolly tastes fruity, maybe pineapple or coconut. But after taking a sip of it, it tasted EXACTLY like black licorice. And im not a big fan of licorice but hey I needed to fully experience the absinthe experience so I continued to drink the rest of the glass. A few minutes after finishing the drink, it gave me a weird buzz/drunk. It was a weird drunk, but hey it was cool haha. We ended up taking a straight shot of it later that night too. In conclusion to this Absinthe experience, on a scale of  1-10 id prolly give it a 7. Absinthe is alright i guess, but i probably wont drink it again. I'm just gonna stick to the standard O-Block drink. Smirnoff Vodka. (shout out to O-Block.)

Oh ya, and after getting back to Dean's house we obviously got Alertos. Late night Alertos is a MUST. We all ordered breakfast burritos and shared a chicken nachos. Which is standard. haha.

SMELL LIKE KOREAN

So lately I've been running ALOT around Irvine. Sometimes around the track at my old highschool, around my neighborhood, and also down the San Diego Creek Bike Trail. I usually run anywhere around 4~8 miles a day. But lately I've been stuck on running down the San Diego Creek Bike Trail. The trail has beautiful scenery with birds, a nice creek, golf course, beach, a bay, and it goes all the way down to the beach. What more can you ask for?? Also you don't have to stop for any lights cuz the trail goes under streets and street lights. And theres a bunch of fellow runners that wave to me. I usually run the trail to the boarder of Newport and back, which is around 8 miles but this past week I tried to test my endurance a little and tried running all the way to the beach. I got half way around the back bay and almost fainted. lol I realized my body was super dehydrated and started getting dizzy. I need to figure out a way to get some fluids in me during the run.  But I guess thats my goal now for the summer, to make it all the way down to the beach and back. Gonna take a lot of training!

Also last night, we all went out Cham Sut Gol in Garden Grove. An all you can eat korean BBQ spot for Whitneys' going away party. As a table, we took out 3 big ass plates of meat and I ate so much I thought I was going to explode.haha. It was nice seeing everyone again. Its been a while since we all hung out together.

A Chef

So since i've been back in Irvine, I've had TONS of free time haha. I dont do much, I basically wake up and go to the gym, then run, then relax either at the pool, beach, backyard, and play with my dog. haha. So I've had tons of free time on my hands. Also on my free time, I've been cooking a lot with my dad. My dad is a good cook and he does most of the cooking at my house now. I've cooked katsu-curry, udon, perfected my miso soup, takoyaki, okonomiyaki, and others. You  can check out pictures of my dishes on my food page. Maybe I'll become a cook one day, hahaha yeah rightttt.  I just hope i can learn and perfect a few good dishes so that i can cook for my future wife and kids.

Also, lately I've been doing a lot of thinking. About myself and my future. Theres a BIG decision I need to make in the next few weeks and the decision could change me and my future completely. Its a decision I'm not taking lightly but I hope I make the right one. I'll keep everyone updated through my blog and twitter.

During the day, I usually kick it with my dog max. Hes the bombest dog EVER. I call him Million, short for Max-A-Million. We're usually kicking it in the back yard while i read, listen to music, kick it on the computer, or jus nappin.

How sick is this pool? One day I'll swim laps there...breast stroke style.
Staying up till 4:30 in the morning playing beer pong, eating alertos, and talkin bout life. Thats summer for ya

HAHAHAHA WHITNEY IS THE TROLLL!! (sorry whit, had to put you on blast)

The Beginning

So this is my first blog entry thingy. I've never really done this before, and i dont really know what to put on here. But i guess im gonna blog about my adventures and wherever my life journey takes me. I'm gonna try to update this as much as possible. So here goes....

So I just got done with SF (shout out to all my friends up in the bay area) and now I'm back down south in Irvine. I've just been kicking it with friends and family and enjoying my summer. Its so nice being graduated and having nothing to do or having no worries. I don't think its fully hit me yet that im done with SF. Since I'm usually down here for summer, it feels normal. But i bet when summer is over, its gonna be weird that I wont be in SF and ill be in Irvine. I miss my O-Block Homies.

So the other day, me eric and stef decided to go hiking at Irvine Regional Park. It was kind of a spur of the moment thing but it ended up pretty cool. It was freaking hot and we couldn't find the right trails that lead to the top of the mountain. We ( and in "we" i mean mostly stef hahah) also had a few slips, falls, bumps, thorns in their arms/sides, but we ended up making it all the way to the top of the mountain and down in one piece and  it was a nice get away.

Looking down from the top of the mountain.

LION KING

Half way up the mountain, we decided to take a "Y" picture...for some reason...

Then we found this TALL ass tree and decided to climb it. It was kinds scary..not going to lie.

And then Eric wanted to stop to take a poo....he ate alot the night before.
